Photograph Notes: The re-creation of the Gravity Slate Train, consisting of slate wagons, has been a popular feature of gala weekends since 1986. They have become longer, and a better spectacle. When the Ffestiniog Railway was a working slate railway, slate was carried down to Porthmadog, by this method, with up to 80 loaded wagons forming a train; manned by far fewer Brakemen.
