US MILITARY  WALLACE & TIERNAN JJ 16004 PORTABLE ALTIMETER USGS T-255450 (CIRCA 1940') ORIGINAL  US WW2 RARE FIND

This was a U.S. Army field Altimeter
.

With hygrometer rare, show in pictures 5 and 6.

Housed in a cylindrical metal case, with hinged lid. The base contains the altimeter, which is simply an aneroid barometer. This is sealed behind a glass face to prevent moisture entering.

The lid has conversion scales "Air temperature and Relative humidity correction factors for Altitude", behind which clips in a hygrometer which is a Wet and Dry bulb thermometer style hygrometer.

Operated by the atmospheric pressure bending the elastic top of a partially evacuated drum, actuating a pointer. The hygrometer can be removed from the lid and spun in the air so that a measure can be made of air temperature and relativity humidity ( which affects the density of the air). After both barometer and hygrometer measurements are taken, the tables are used to evaluate the approximate altitude.

PLEASE ALLOW FOR TRANSIT DELAYS

With all that is happening around the World, social isolation and retail shop fronts closed, there is a lot of Online Shopping happening which means a HUGE amount of freight being moved around the transport network.
Interstate and International Borders closed, and limited flights, there are subsequent transit delays with both domestic and international shipments.⠀
⠀Please understand that this is completely out of our control, and our transport partners of Australia Post are doing their absolute best in keeping up with the mammoth volume of freight, and delivering you your goods as soon as they can.
When checking Shipping Tracking, you may notice less scans on your packages than usual, and slow movements - unfortunately at this time, this is expected. ⠀⠀
We thank you for your support & understanding
as we work through this tough time.
Stay safe 🙏
