Great Russian / Soviet 1958 Sputnik 3 Space pin

About 5/8 to 3/4 inch tall.  Fantastic lapel pin issued in 1958 to celebrate the flight of sputnik 3. Listed as item I.29 in the catalog of Space Pins of the Soviet Union 1957 - 1975 by V. N. ILYINSKY, V. E. KUZIN, & M. B. SAUKKE. The pin is shown in the color section of the book  (table 2, 1.29).

Circle with a diameter of 14 mm. A flag with a brass colored satellite and an inscription is placed above it: «CCCP». Below on the right is the Eastern hemisphere of the Earth. The rest of the icon field is occupied by a dark blue starry sky. Red, blue and dark blue enamel. Brass.  Numerous versions of this badge are known, including the Pobeda factory.   

There are hundreds of great Soviet / Russian space pins out there.  I guess most people don't collect them because they just can't read them.  Of maybe you might think its unpatriotic to collect them (I used to think that).  Well I've taken care of all that for you.  No more excuses.
