Locost Kit Car Prop Shaft Catch Plates
Here we have 1 PAIR of Laser Cut plates designed to fit around the prop shaft on a RWD 'Locost' type car to 'catch' the prop in the even of a failure. Plates are made from 3mm stainless steel, no surface treatment required, fit and forget!
NOTE: 1 Pair of plates are required for EACH END of your prop.
Failure of the prop shaft can cause serious damage to both the chassis, wiring loom, fuel lines, brake lines and most importantly vehicle occupents!
The design of these plates is such that they can be fastened by either (two or four fasteners) into the transmission tunnel at each end of the prop shaft. In the even of a failure of the universal joint these plates will minimise potential damage. As can be seen from the drawing there are various mounting options to accomodate fixed and live rear axles (round or oval hole).
In some cases they will need spacing away from the chassis members to position them correctly longitudinally in the tunnel. This can be done by threaded bar/studding, long bolts or spacer pillars.
Hole centers (left to right) are 118mm currently drilled for M6 but can be opened up to M8 on installation if desired.
