This type of split charge relay is different from the type usually found in the engine bay of Motorhomes that provide charging of the leisure battery from the alternator (and supply to fridge) whilst the engine is running. In most Motorhomes and Boats etc, a solar panel or wind turbine will only provide charging to one battery (usually the leisure battery). If the engine battery is being used for radios, battery charging, alarms, lights etc it is important to charge this battery as well. This unit will charge both batteries from Solar or wind etc.

Very often a Solar charging system will have fully charged the Leisure batteries during the day when little or no equipment is being used. Without this unit that Solar power will have been wasted!

This unit could also be used for any other battery charging systems that require a priority charge and a secondary isolated battery system that is charged only when the main battery reaches 13.6V or more.
