Rock Off® Towing Brush Strip - Caravan Stone Guard

With the average van costing around $50,000 one of the most frustrating thing for Aussie Caravaners and Travellers is having the front of their shiny new caravan, trailer or boat damaged with unsightly dings and stone chips. How often do you hear that someone’s travel experience has been set back by stones bouncing back and smashing the back window or tail lights of their 4WD or towing vehicle? (Mounting suggestions depicted above. Pricing is for ROCK OFF® Towing Brush Strip only, does not include bracket, mounting or fitting) To help protect your investment, Busy Bee Brushware has developed the Rock Off® Towing Brush Strip to assist in damage prevention while towing. It acts as a secondary line of defence against stones and bounce-back. Our Rock Off® Towing Brush Strip is a brush system set into a sturdy plastic (HDPE) backing (45mm x 25mm) that can be mounted under the vehicle, or on an extended tow bar hitch of your 4WD or towing vehicle via a metal bracket (not included). Our unique bristle design of our brush strip allows for greater airflow and less drag than traditional mud flaps. The Rock Off® Towing Brush Strip is proudly licenced with the Australian Made Campaign official logo, be wary of inferior imitations. Comes in 4 standard lengths, 1200mm, 1500mm, 2000mm, 2400mm, and you can chose your brush trim length from 150mm to 400mm. We welcome your enquiry to discuss your specific needs.   Fitting your Rock Off® We recommend you contact your local 4WD after market specialist, trailer specialist or engineer/fitter who could give you some advice as to the best way to fit to your vehicle.   A couple of tips we can give you: When measuring the trim length that you need, when we refer to Brush trim, that is the exact length of the bristle.  You will need to add the length of the backing to that measurement when considering overall length. Most customers feedback is that the brush can be mounted with anywhere from 100mm to 200mm clearance from the road. Remember this is a plastic bristle brush, so needs to be mounted away from the exhaust pipe.  Both the heat of the exhaust pipe and the hot fumes that come from it can melt the bristles. The best option is to mount the brush under the exhaust or behind the exhaust. We recommend you contact a local exhaust specialist for advice. You can remove the tufts of the brush that sit in front of the exhaust to provide clearance.  The tufts are “stapled” into the backing of the ROCK OFF, so you can use pliers to remove the individual tufts without impacting the overall brush. The ROCK OFF Towing Brush Strip can also be cut into pieces and mounted under the caravan as a secondary protection zone for your caravan’s pipework.  FAQ  Do you sell the mounting, bracket or fitting? With the diversity of vehicles and applications for ROCK OFF® Towing Brush Strip, Busy Bee Brushware manufactures the brush only. You will need to source your own fitting. Our ROCK OFF® Towing Brush Strip can be drilled and fixed to an Angle Bracket or a C Channel for mounting. The ROCK OFF® Towing Brush Strip can also be cut into sections and mounted under the caravan, trailer or RV as protection to the undercarriage If you are unsure of fitting, we recommend you contact your local 4WD after-market specialist, trailer specialist or engineer/fitter who could give you some advice as to the best way to fit to your vehicle.   What is ROCK OFF® made of? ROCK OFF® is made at our factory in Dandenong South with a locally produced crimped anti-static polypropylene fibre (1mm/0.040”), punched into a HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) backing.  Remember: This is a plastic bristle brush, so needs to be mounted away from the exhaust pipe. The hot fumes from the exhaust pipe can distort the bristles.  How long do the bristles need to be? When measuring the trim length that you need, when we refer to Brush trim, that is the exact length of the bristle. You will need to add the length of the backing to that measurement when considering overall length. Our customer feedback is that the brush is most effective when mounted with anywhere from 100mm to 200mm clearance from the road.  How is ROCK OFF® different to traditional mudflaps? ROCK OFF® is lighter, creates less drag and allow greater airflow than traditional solid mudflaps. Our customers have also found that when a stone hits a solid mudflap it can bounce back into the undercarriage the causing damage to the vehicle, while the ROCK OFF® bristles absorb the impact of the stone and drop it to the ground.  Is ROCK OFF® different to the spray suppressants brushes found on trucks and buses? While similar, ROCK OFF and truck spray suppressant are different products with different purposes (although we do sell both). Truck and bus spray suppressants are designed to direct the water and dust back to the road below the windscreen level of other road users as well as helping to keep the fitted vehicle cleaner. It has softer bristles and a flexible backing to fit around a wheel well. ROCK OFF® is specifically designed to deflect stones, and is a lot stronger than spray suppressants designed for water.
