Beta Sigma Phi is a non-academic sorority created to provide social and cultural opportunities for women.  It is primarily a social organization, but some chapters do community service work.  In 1931, Walter W. Ross founded the organization in Abilene, Texas. Beta Sigma Phi was incorporated in April 1932 under a charter in Missouri. Founders Day is celebrated on April 30th.
