2 packets of Sugar Snap Mangetout Pea 'De Grace' Seeds Reduced due to Expiry date
Seed fill 10g, Approx 30-60 seeds Sow by date 2025
Sugar snap peas De Grace is a dwarf growing variety that are best eaten fresh off the vine or used in cooking, steaming, and in salads. Very sweet tasting variety. They are round as opposed to flat with a crispy texture. Sugar peas are a rich source of vitamins and minerals. Perfect for freezing.
Can be grown as a Mangetout if picked early.
It’s early and more frost resistant than some of the other peas and it’s quite heat tolerant too.
Sow from mid April until mid May outdoors in rows (approx 2 -3 cm deep).
This variety can grow without support; 50-60 cm tall. 10 grams of seed will be sufficient for about 1.6 - 2 meter of sowing.
It’s early and more frost resistant than some of the other peas I’ve tried, definitely more so than the modern snap peas, and it’s quite heat tolerant, too. Ideal for first and last succession sowing of peas.
Harvesting as Mangetout when the pods are still small and flat.
Harvesting as snow peas /sugar snap peas: allow the peas to fatten in the pod so that the sugars form and they become divinely sweet and crisp, but you will need to snap off the stem end and pull off the strings, but this is easily accomplished.
