This pretty antique original bronze sculpture is signed by the French artist V. Peter ( Victor Peter ) ( 1840-1918 ) at proper right front of base.

Titled on verso “ lionceau d Atlas agé de 2 ans “, which means “ lion cub of Atlas 2 years old “.

Also stamped on verso “ Susse Frères Editeurs Paris “.

Susse Frères is one of the best foundry ( casting ) in France in the middle 19 and early 20 century.

It depicts a seated lion cub on a rock.

Atlas lion or Barbary lion is a race of lion who was locally extinct, it use to live in Atlas Mountains in Morocco to Egypt.
