Disney’s Knickerbocker Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs 1936 Dopey Jack-In-The-Box!

For That Very Special Dopey Collector
DISNEY’s 1936 Knickerbocker Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs DOPEY Jack In-The-Box! You are bidding on a very early and rare 1936 Knickerbocker Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Dopey Jack-In-The-Box that is in good condition for being almost 85 YEARS OLD!
Walt and Roy Disney’s original marketing decision to sell Disney character merchandise started with the Mickey and Minnie Mouse Charlotte Clark Dolls. The move to licence and to “PRODUCE THE DOLL” WAS A STROKE OF MARKETING GENIUS! The success of their marketing strategy was an immediate financial bonanza for the Studios. With the planned release of Disney’s Feature Film, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in 1937, Walt and Roy licensed the Knickerbocker Toy Company in 1936 to do a series of beautiful stuffed cloth and composition Dwarfs that featured "true to character" composition faces and hands.
The Knickerbocker Toy Company created both a Mickey Mouse Clown and a Dopey Clown Jack-In-The-Box. Dopey’s Composition Face with Clown Collar sits in a 6” x 6” x 6” wood box with paper coverings. It opens to reveal the pop-up Dopey Clown. Although this Dopey Clown Jack-In-The-Box is in good condition, it does show wear from age. Dopey’s cloth collar and outfit are faded. The paper covering on the box does have areas that have deteriorated, however, the paper pattern is so “busy” those areas are difficult to stand out. The clasp on the front works well and locks. The box top is still securely attached to the box. The Jack-In-The-Box Spring is very strong and still has its original black cloth covering it. Please review all the photographs provided with this listing as they give a good way to examine the condition of this very early Walt Disney Collectible.
Walt and Roy Disney’s four-year quest to find the right company to make high quality, inexpensive Mickey Mouse Dolls was achieved with the licensing of the Knickerbocker Toy Company in 1934. Charlotte Clark was assigned to work with the company to develop the patterns for the original Mickey and Minnie dolls. Composition faces and shoes were introduced in 1935. Knickerbocker introduced Donald Duck Dolls in 1936 and also created a series of Dolls for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Ferdinand the Bull, Pinocchio, and Dumbo before World War II ended its license in 1942.
This almost 85 Year Old Knickerbocker Seven Dwarfs Dopey Jack-In-The-Box is very difficult to find. If you are a collector of the "earliest” of Disney Memorabilia, or simply a Lover of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, then this unique Knickerbocker Seven Dwarfs Dopey Jack-In-The-Box should be a part of your collection!
