About Merryvale
Merryvale
Fabric Packets
were produced monthly from 1993 to 2007.
They featured fabrics selected from a new fabric collection created for
quilt making. They are cut into
six-inch squares and usually contained 26 pieces. Fabric collections rotated to present quilters with a
variety of new fabrics being produced by leading companies in the
industry. In selecting from
individual fabric collections, quilters became aware of designers’ intent regarding
coordinated scale of prints and colorways.

Blenders I by Bonnie Benn Stratton features a pretty parade of
subtle prints to assist in the coordination of other larger and more defined prints. A necessary element for almost every
successful quilt, textured blenders provide interest (pattern vs. plain), a
place for your eye to rest (calm vs. chaos), and allow for emphasis in those
areas you choose to highlight. As
percentages go, the overall sales of blenders and background fabrics exceed all
others for cotton quilt-making purposes.
Obviously, a valuable commodity!
Fabrics in this
collection include some you may have seen, but most are additional colors of
prints that are sophisticated and useful which appeared in the following
collections:
Colors
in Texture* Plantation*
Fine
China Blue* Peace and Plenty
Garden
Botanica Smithsonian (2003)
Then & Now* Rose a la Mode
Tidings of Joy * Northcott Silk of Canada
The range of colors includes red, slate gray, brown, beige
to neutral, and rose to rich burgundy.
Let these beautiful Blenders I provide the necessary and welcome enhancement of your
next quilting project.
