We're here to offer you a battery replacement service, to extend the Battery Expiry Date for a further 6-years* (*from the date of manufacture of the battery), at less than half the price of replacing with a new PLB, and without the hassle of registering a new PLB.

Here's How it Works:
THIS IS A SERVICE REQUIRING YOU TO SEND YOUR PLB TO US
Stage 1: Purchase this Service & Return Your PLB to Us
- Having checked your PLB Battery Expiry Date and discovering it's out of date, make your purchase of this product, by checking out with eBay
- On receipt of your order, we will contact you with details of how to return your PLB to us.
- All we will need is the PLB itself. No lanyards or pouches
- Return shipping will be at YOUR expense, and we recommend you use a registered delivery, such as Royal Mail Signed-For, or Special Delivery. Something requiring a signature on delivery. WE CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ITEMS BEING LOST IN THE POST, so please be aware of the compensation values the services mentioned offer, should your PLB go missing in transit
Stage 2: The Service - What's Replaced?
Being AUTHORISED McMurdo Service Agents, we hold all the necessary equipment to carry out the service, including:
- A pre-inspection of your PLB to check for FULL functionality
- Dismantling your PLB to access the batteries internally
- Replacing the batteries for new
- Replacing the Antenna for new
- Replacing the sealing gaskets for new
- Replacing all stainless screws for new
- Replacing the top cover for new
Stage 3: Testing the PLB
Obviously, it's imperative to us that your PLB is returned to you in FULL WORKING ORDER and good for another 6-years. So, once the parts are replaced and the PLB is put back together (to correct torque-screw tolerances for sealing), further tests are then carried out, such as:
- Checking the required watertight sealing
- Checking 406MHz transmission
- Checking 121.5MHz transmission
- Checking the Self-test counters are reset
- Checking the Unique pre-programmed message is still programmed & valid
- Checking your Unique PLB ID (Hex-Code, which identifies You at EPIRB/PLB Registry, Falmouth) is still programmed & valid
For these tests, we use McMurdo's own FPROG software & light pen, available only to Authorised Service Agents. This is the main reason why we require the PLB to be sent back to us for this service. We want this PLB to work, should you ever have cause to use it
Stage 4: Return of Your PLB
We then return your PLB to your registered address, and dispose of the discarded parts, including safe & appropriate disposal of the old batteries
Return shipping will be by fully Tracked service, with text notifications (if your mobile number has been provided)
We generally perform the service and have your PLB on its way back to you within 1 working day of receiving it. Please ignore the "20-day" dispatch time in this listing. We have allowed a window for you to get the PLB back to us. Once received, we turn it around very quickly
