This is a wonderful example of very early
non-licenced Disneyana ceramic pieces manufactured in countries outside of the United States immediately after the world-wide mania created by the success of Walt Disney’s animated Mickey Mouse during the 1930’s.
Non-licenced manufactures in Japan produced all kinds of conventional and unconventional Disneyana items. This bonanza of Disney pieces lasted for a very short period of time during the 1930’s and the activities finally came to halt with the beginning of World War II.
This Mickey Mouse Figural Pitcher measures
4 1/2” tall, 2 1/2” wide and 4” deep.
“Plump Mickey” could easily be considered a cream pitcher with Mickey’s curved tail as the handle and his open mouth as the pouring spout.
It is marked “Made In Japan” on the bottom.
Considering its age of about 85 years, this Mickey Mouse Figural Pitcher is in excellent condition with only a few paint misses, and some light crazing.
It is a fine example of very early non-licensed Disneyana ceramic pieces made in Japan.
