Alfred Schönian (born March 16, 1856 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † after 1936 in Munich ) was a German animal and landscape painter.
Schönian began his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig with the sculptor Melchior to the streets .
Since April 24, 1877, he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Gyula Benczúr and Johann Leonhard Raab .
After graduation he remained as a freelance artist in Munich. He was involved in animal and landscape painting.
He mainly painted poultry and pets, often in the middle of the landscape, but also genre paintings, portraits and pictures with fairy tale characters. Many of his works appeared in print in the form of postcards, as well as in illustrated magazines.
