EL Panels have been used as display backlights in consumer and professional electronic equipment for more than 30 years.

As these units are often decades old, the manufacturer has often discontinued the product.

Users then discover that replacement screens for their beloved hardware are often expensive or impossible to find.

Instead of replacing the entire screen, an inexpensive EL Panel Backlight replacement can be installed instead. There will be some disassembly and soldering involved but there are usually youtube videos for the procedure for most makes and models.

It has been designed to fit most Realistic Scanner models but will also backlight any device with a similar screen size.

12cm is too long for most models but it can be cut to the size required using sharp scissors only, never a scalpel blade, and ensuring that you re-seal any 'cut' edges with glue.

There is a choice of connectors on either end depending what is most convenient for the device you have.
There is a jumper connection on the left and on the right is thin FPC tape that can easily be soldered onto – just cut off the one you don’t need.
