This is one of the most exciting flies to see a fish take.  It is also great to fish in a dry dropper combination.  The hackles and elk hair make the fly float high in the water without floatant.

The fly represents a caddis fly, stone fly or salmon fly.  It is great to fish in fast water and under brush even when there isn't a hatch. This fly is deadly in a combination with either a nymph or emerger below the fly.
