- Early/mid 17th century double-page copper-plate engraved bird's eye plan/view of Constantinople by Jaspar Isac [Iaspar Isaac] (1585-1654) circa 1621 showing the city less than 200 years after its conquest by the Ottoman Turks
- Undated but another of his works on Jerusalem and the Holy Land/Near East was published in that year, and bibliographic records suggest he was most prolific in the 1620s. In any case, very probable publication date ranges from the early 1620s toward his later years and death in 1654
- Extremely rare, only one other found in the digital records of the City of Istanbul. Measures 22 3/4 x 17 3/8 inches
- Margins lightly smudged and darkened in places, several small areas of old repair including old archival repair verso (please carefully review the photos in this listing)
- Fine dark impression, very well preserved over the centuries
- The view includes the Bosphorus and many ships, both European and Asian sides of the City, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia, and numerous other mosques, palaces and other landmarks
- Exquisite detail
- Fragile but still in remarkable condition
