A Guide to Watch Holders by James J Niehaus

This unique booklet has long been out of print, but fortunately I was able to come across a few copies from the inventory of a bookseller. Watches in the 18th and 19th century were often the only timepiece in a household. Thus the purpose of many watch holders was not only a place to securely hold a man's most prized possession but also to display the watch so that it could function as a clock. Many designs made of a multitude of materials of varying quality were made. This small book is the only one I know of dedicated to this dresser or desk item. 57 B&W photographs present probably around 70 different watch holders. A knowledgeable text and detail captions make the book a worthy resource.
