They can be used anywhere a standard 7 watt light bulb can be used such as, chandeliers, candlestick lamp, nightlight plug, etc.  When lit, the light is soft, diffused.  Shown in pictures is a photo of a pink 5 watt bulb when used with nightlight plug (both sold separately.)
