Original Japanese corporate group photograph dated 1 April 1969 (Showa 44), commemorating the entrance ceremony for new employees of Shiseido Nagasaki Sales Co., Ltd.

The printed Japanese inscription reads:

Commemorative Photograph – 1969 New Employee Entrance Ceremony

資生堂長崎販売株式会社

Shiseido Nagasaki Sales Co., Ltd.

44.4.1 – 1 April 1969

This impressive photograph shows a large gathering of newly recruited employees and senior staff posed formally outside the company premises. Particularly interesting is the mixture of smart Western business dress and traditional Japanese kimono, giving a wonderful snapshot of changing fashions and corporate culture in late-1960s Japan.

Shiseido is one of Japan's most famous cosmetics companies, and this photograph makes an unusual piece of original corporate and social history connected with its regional Nagasaki operations during Japan's post-war period of rapid economic growth.

The lower margin also carries the name おかの (Okano) together with telephone number 22-6579, likely connected with the photographer or photographic studio responsible for the print.

Original vintage photograph mounted on card. Good overall condition for its age with some age-related wear, marks and slight handling/storage wear to the mount. The photograph itself remains clear with very good detail and strong contrast
