Original collection of vintage black and white photographs dating mainly from 1922–1923, including a number of photographs with handwritten locations and dates on the reverse.
The collection appears to document a European journey, particularly Switzerland, with photographs identified as Zurich and Lausanne. Several are dated September 1922 and January 1923, with one inscription mentioning Hotel Beau-Rivage, Ouchy-Lausanne, January 1923.
Included are numerous candid and portrait photographs of a smartly dressed gentleman, together with views of lakes, promenades, gardens, buildings and countryside. One particularly interesting photograph shows a vessel marked K12 on the water.
I particularly like the sequence of portrait photographs showing the same gentleman with different expressions, which gives the collection a lovely personal feel rather than simply being a group of tourist views.
Condition:
Original vintage condition with age-related wear throughout. Some photographs have creasing, corner and edge wear, surface marks, fading, foxing/discolouration and small tears or losses. Several retain handwritten period annotations to the reverse, which add considerably to their historical interest.
Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description and show exactly what is included.
