Large mixed lot of vintage historical newspapers, magazines, articles, and paper ephemera weighing approximately 12 pounds.
I discovered this collection in a storage locker. It appears to have been accumulated over several decades, documenting major events in American history. Everything is being sold together as one lot.
The collection includes original vintage newspapers, magazine material, historical photographs, illustrations, and assorted newspaper clippings.
Some of the identifiable historical coverage includes:
• 1963 JFK assassination, funeral, and national mourning • Lee Harvey Oswald assassination investigation • November 24, 1963 Chicago Tribune – "Tie Death Gun to Oswald" • November 26, 1963 Chicago Tribune – "Last Rites for Kennedy" • Lyndon B. Johnson presidency and Kennedy memorial coverage • 2003 Space Shuttle Columbia disaster and NASA investigation • February 3, 2003 Chicago Sun-Times – "Nation Weeps, NASA Searches" • 2003 Iraq War and U.S. invasion coverage • March 20-21, 2003 Chicago Sun-Times war headlines • June 2004 Ronald Reagan death and funeral coverage • People magazine Columbia shuttle crew memorial coverage • Additional historical newspaper articles, political cartoons, photographs, and miscellaneous clippings
Publications include the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Sunday Register Star, Chicago's American, People magazine, and other assorted printed materials.
Mixed vintage condition ranging from poor to good. Older newspapers and clippings show significant age-related yellowing, discoloration, creasing, folded edges, tears, fraying, and some brittle or fragile paper.
This is an unsearched, unorganized collection. I have not individually counted or inventoried the contents, and I cannot guarantee that any newspapers, magazines, or publications are complete.
All items are being sold together AS IS. Please review all photos for examples of the contents and condition.
