Model # 8782 – The Britannia | By Impact Cutlery UK

Only one knife made.

Introducing The Britannia, an extraordinary handcrafted Damascus steel hunting knife inspired by Britain's rich maritime heritage and the magnificent sailing ships of a bygone era. Combining traditional blade-making with intricate artistic decoration, this remarkable creation is a celebration of fine craftsmanship, history and timeless elegance.

The impressive 5.15-inch blade is individually crafted from hand-forged Damascus steel, displaying an exceptionally beautiful pattern of flowing, layered lines and swirling formations. The striking contrasts of silver and dark steel run across the blade, creating a fascinating natural pattern that makes this knife particularly attractive to collectors. The blade features a gracefully sweeping cutting edge, pronounced bevels and a finely tapered point.

What truly distinguishes The Britannia is its stunning natural bone handle, adorned with an intricate scrimshaw-style maritime illustration. The beautifully detailed black artwork depicts a magnificent historic three-masted sailing ship, its sails billowing as it navigates powerful ocean waves. Every element of the illustration, from the elaborate rigging and individual sails to the movement of the surrounding sea, contributes to a dramatic scene celebrating the golden age of maritime exploration.

The warm Ivôry tones of the polished bone provide a beautiful canvas for the dark, finely detailed artwork, creating a remarkable contrast that evokes the character of traditional maritime scrimshaw.

Adding to the exceptional craftsmanship, the knife features a beautifully shaped hand-forged Damascus steel crossguard, displaying the same captivating layered patterns as the blade. The matching Damascus butt cap completes the design, while carefully arranged dark contrasting spacers and fine metallic accent lines at both ends of the handle provide an elegant finishing touch.

The harmonious combination of the intricately illustrated bone handle, richly patterned Damascus blade and matching fittings makes The Britannia a genuinely distinctive collector's piece.

The knife comes with an individually fitted dark brown genuine leather sheath, finished with contrasting golden stitching, secure retaining straps and practical belt attachments. The sheath complements the knife's traditional character while providing secure storage and convenient carrying.

The Britannia is a fully sharpened and functional knife, crafted for practical cutting applications as well as appreciation by collectors and enthusiasts of fine handmade cutlery. Its substantial 5 mm blade thickness, carefully contoured handle and solid construction combine functionality with the exceptional artistic detailing that makes this piece so special.

The knife comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity, Impact Cutlery Lifetime Warranty Card, and business card.

Rust is not covered under the Impact lifetime warranty. Proper care and maintenance are essential.

Care of Your Fine Custom Knife
  1. Never store the knife in a leather sheath.
  2. Never leave the knife wet.
  3. Apply oil/wax after use and before storing.
  4. If rust appears, use 0000 steel wool with oil to clean it off; metal polish can also be used.
  5. Never put the knife in a dishwasher.
  6. Keep the guard, bolsters, and butt caps oiled/waxed.
  7. Keep it sharp — a sharp knife is safer than a dull knife.

  9. Don’t try to repair a damaged knife yourself. Send it to us and we’ll do our best to make it as good as new.

If you plan heavy-duty use, let us know when ordering a custom knife so we can shape the blade and bevel accordingly. Knives in auctions are not subject to alterations; suggestions can be made for fixed-price listings.
