A charming antique folding wooden games board with a complete set of chess pieces and backgammon counters, dating to approximately the early 20th century, circa 1900–1930.

The hinged wooden case opens to reveal a striking backgammon board decorated with alternating blue and black points, while the exterior features a traditional chessboard in natural wood and black.

Accompanied by a particularly attractive set of turned wooden chessmen in contrasting light and dark finishes, with wonderfully distinctive ringed designs, decorative kings and queens, and carved knights. Also included are a full set of turned wooden backgammon counters, a wooden dice shaker and pair of dice.

The pieces can be stored inside the folding board when not in use, creating a practical and highly decorative travelling games set.

A lovely piece of traditional parlour gaming history, equally appealing as a functional chess and backgammon set or decorative object for a study, library or eclectic interior.

In good antique condition with age-related wear, including surface scratches, marks and some wear to the playing surfaces, consistent with its age and use. Complete with chess pieces and backgammon counters.
