Very rare CDV of John MacDonald, Canadian merchant, churchman, philanthropist and Toronto politician.  He was born in Perth Scotland but came to Canada in 1837.  He was a major patron of YMCA and Toronto General Hospital.

Photographed here with wife and three of his children in front of their house.  Dated 1865.
