Tudor Submariner Snowflake 9411/0 – Black Dial, Golden Patina, 9315 Bracelet

1981 Tudor Prince Oysterdate Submariner reference 9411/0. A lovely combination of matte black dial, warm 'pumpkin' markers and unmistakable Snowflake hands, fitted to a folded-link Oyster bracelet.

The square hour markers have rich pumpkin tones, complemented by the luminous material in the broad hands. There are variations in colour and texture across the markers, best seen in the close-up photographs. Against the black background, the effect is especially nice and what you want to see.

It's a metres first (200m=660ft) with the unmistakeable Submariner lettering below, T SWISS T” at six o’clock, and the date is beneath the x21. Cyclops magnifier.

CASE AND BEZEL

The stainless-steel case measures approximately 39mm excluding the crown, with brushed lug tops, polished sides and drilled lugs. It has clearly been polished over its life and shows scratches and marks from wear, all illustrated in the photographs.

The black bezel insert provides a clean contrast to the warm dial plots, with silver-coloured numerals and a yellow-toned pip at twelve.

The crown is Rolex signed, while the screw-down case-back has the “Original Oyster Case by Rolex Geneva” inscription. The reference 9411/0 and serial number 967311 are visible between the lugs. The serial dates the watch to approximately 1981.

MOVEMENT AND RUNNING CONDITION

The Tudor-signed automatic movement is running well and keeping time during my ownership. This is an observation from use rather than a measured daily accuracy guarantee.

There is no service history available, and I cannot confirm when it was last serviced. Photographs of the movement and the inside of the caseback are included.

BRACELET

Fitted with a stainless-steel folded-link Oyster bracelet stamped 9315, with 380 end links and a Rolex-signed clasp. The bracelet has the light, flexible feel that suits a vintage Submariner. The clasp fastens securely and opens correctly. The bracelet and clasp show surface scratches and wear, as pictured. I cannot confirm whether the bracelet was originally supplied with this particular watch.

CONDITION AND HISTORY

An attractive, worn vintage watch with loads of character. Signs of polishing over the years, but the case, lugs and chamfers are surprisingly sharp for a well worn vintage the case, bracelet, clasp and acrylic crystal have visible scratches and marks. The luminous material in the hands and hour markers shows variations in tone and texture.

Beyond the visible polishing, I do not know what restoration, servicing or replacement work may have been carried out previously. The watch has been verified as authentic from the reputable auction house I purchased it from. I can supply the receipt.

The photographs include detailed macro views, which magnify small imperfections considerably. Wrist photographs are also provided to show how the watch presents at a normal viewing distance.

BOX

Accompanied by the Tudor presentation box pictured, reference 94.00.1. I believe it is an appropriate box for the watch, although I cannot confirm that the two were originally supplied together.

WATER RESISTANCE

Water resistance has not been tested and is not guaranteed. The case-back has been opened for the movement photographs and authentication so should be kept away from water unless it has subsequently been checked, sealed and pressure-tested by a qualified watchmaker.
