(101) This listing is for an interesting item of mid 1900s Motoring Memorabilia - A Red AA / Automobile Association Members Grill Badge, Number: OW75342, which dates it as between 1955 & 1957. This specific style of badge, often called the "racquet-shaped" or "domed" badge was first introduced in 1945 and remained the standard design until 1967. While standard civilian member badges feature a yellow background. The red background signifies that this badge was officially assigned to an Industrial, Commercial, or Heavy Goods Vehicle Section member. The wings flanking the upper portion trace back to the AA's historic 1911 amalgamation with the Motor Union. The text on the lower section reads: "Property of the AA, New Coventry St London. This badge must be returned when membership ceases'' Badges remained legal property of the AA to protect against non-members claiming breakdown roadside.
The badge is in really good condition, and as well as making an attractive accessory for a classic car of the period, it would also make a nice addition to an historical collection of motoring memorabilia.
I Have More AA Badges & Automobilia, Together With Numerous Other Vintage And Antique Listings - Multi Item Postage Discount would of course be given where applicable.
