In the beautiful colourful streets with balconies full of flowers bathed in the sun, Vallauris possesses an unparalleled treasure in France: the art of pottery, a craftsmanship that has been passed on for centuries. The arrival of Picasso in the 1950s elevated Vallauris to the rank of ceramics capital, because soon many other artists also wanted to play with fire. Picasso himself, but also Chagall or MirĂ³ have designed a range of models, which opened up a new era for ceramics.
