This fantastic 13.95 gram slice of NWA 10553 Eucrite brecciated achondrite meteorite that has been professionally polished to a mirror-like luster.   A single 250 gram stone was recovered in Northwest Africa in 2015 and classified in 2016.  The NWA 10553 meteorite is a member of the HED group of meteorites.  HED meteorites are believed to have originated from the crust of the asteroid 4 Vesta.  Howardite, Eucrite, Diogenite meteorites are believed to be in the range of 4.4 to 4.5 billion years in age and is determined to be ejection debris from an impact event on the asteroid body.
This slice shows has a dark,fine-grained matrix with scattered larger grained augite-pyroxene and minor amounts of other minerals.  However, feldspar, usually found in other Eucrites, is almost absent in NWA 10553.  This NWA 10553 eucrite brecciated  achondrite is ringed with the meteorite's natural fusion crust and measures approximately 42 mm x 37 mm x 3 mm.  This recently classified meteorite slice is mentioned in the "Meteoritical Bulletin" #105 and comes with a display case when purchased.
