Beautiful antique English blue transferware plate in the Jeddo pattern by George Jones & Sons, Stoke on Trent, circa late 19th century (1873-1891). This plate is a bit unusual, as we've not seen many pieces by Jones in this pattern; one mostly sees the Abby pattern or his Majolica pieces, which are still desirable today. Also, this plate looks to be special production, as there are gold hand written production numbers on the plate reverse of 6639. Plate front has navy transfers of Oriental scenes; vases, pagodas and trees both in the center and repeated around the plate rim.  Border is gold, with essentially all the gilding remaining. The plate reverse has the impressed crescent with the GJ above-very difficult to read, but there. There are also a couple of smaller impressions-possibly the number 87. No transferware stamp. Pre-1891, as there is no England stamp or impression.
This plate is in near pristine condition. An obvious display piece, never used.
