RARE 1959 MARATHON BAIT CO. “TIME TO RETIRE” VINTAGE FISHING LURE DISPLAY BOOK
This is a rare and highly unusual vintage Marathon Bait Co. display book from 1959, featuring a collection of vintage fishing lures arranged inside the original display.
This type of display was made as a vendor/display piece to showcase Marathon fishing baits, making the original presentation an important part of the collectible.
The display includes numerous vintage lures along with an original Houn Brand Soft Nylon fishing line spool marked:
8 lb. – 15 yd.
Marathon Bait Co.
Wausau, Wis.
The display appears to be complete based on comparison with another documented example of the same 1959 display.
This is a particularly interesting piece for a collector of vintage fishing lures, Marathon Bait Co. memorabilia, antique fishing tackle, advertising displays, or vintage sporting collectibles.
The original display book is what really makes this piece special—it is not simply a collection of loose vintage lures.
Everything pictured is included.
