With a presentation plaque dedicated to Albert Hayes 1929, this is a finely carved mahogany plaque depicting a salmon housed in an oak outer frame, which measures 7.75” x 13.75” overall. Albert Hayes was a professional Welsh footballer and played for several clubs including Liverpool. He has attached details of the fish on its reverse. The plaque was then presented proudly to his old junior school. It is obviously not life-size to the fish but governed by the size of the mahogany available to the carver at the time. The bottom of the tail fin may have been reshaped and carved but it is difficult to tell and not obvious.
