Offered for sale is a sharp vintage 1970s Swiss Elgin Electronic (ESA 9158) Gold Plated watch which has an unusual scratch affecting the crystal.  This is one of a number of vintage watches that were part of a retired watch technicians inventory of watches and watch parts, acquired a number of years ago, that I have begun listing here on eBay.

Mechanically, this watch is in good running condition - the Swiss ESA 9158 balance wheel electronic movement movement fired up immediately with a new Renata battery, and has been running steadily and keeping excellent time & date since then. The crown sets the time and the date, as designed.  While the movement is currently keeping good time, as with any 50 year old watch with an indeterminate service history, I would advise the new owner of this watch to have the watch serviced in the near future, so as to preserve and prolong the life of the vintage electronic movement (an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure, and all that ...)

Cosmetically, the 37.2mm wide gold plated case shows signs of only light normal wear evidenced in the form of fine scratches, but otherwise retains sharp lines, corners and edges overall, and displays no signs of any wear through to the gold plated finish anywhere.  The stainless steel case back is in similar condition with a few scratches and marks, but otherwise featuring fully intact factory stamping, strong factory graining and a clean, tight fitting battery hatch cover (please review the photos, as they form the best description of the physical condition of this watch.) The gold tapestry dial with black and gold block hour markers and the date window at 3 o'clock, is gorgeous, as is the original matching black and gold handset. The original signed Elgin crown is in similar excellent condition as the case. The primary cosmetic issue affecting the watch is a circular scratch on the underside of the crystal that runs above the hour markers from the 10 o'clock marker to the 8 o'clock marker - it doesn't affect the viewability of the watch greatly, but it is present and visible.

The watch is mounted on a nice NOS vintage 1970s Kreisler genuine calfskin leather watch band that matches it nicely, and will fit a wrist of up to approximately 7 1/2" in this configuration.

This is a much better than average example of this Elgin Electronic model, keeping good time, that only needs the crystal to be addressed in order to be 100% wrist ready.

Please review all of the photographs, as they comprise the most important part of the item description.  If you have any questions about the item, please ask before bidding; there are no returns on this lot (unless it's not as described in some way.)
