This particular Seiko watch model was a perennial favorite among consumers, leading Seiko to produce it for a period of 20 years, from 1977 to 1996. As a result, this watch (based on the serial number) was produced in either 1983 or 1993; based on the other watches it was boxed up with, I would lean towards 1983, but there's no way to confirm either way, to the best of my knowledge.
Mechanically, the 17J Seiko 7009A automatic movement is in running condition - the automatic winding rotor rattles a bit in the case, but it does wind the movement, as designed. The crown sets the hands and advances the day and date. All that said, while the watch runs steadily once wound, time keeping has not been measured; however, as with all vintage watches with an indeterminate service history (and this one is 30-40 years years old now), it should be assumed that a servicing will need to be administered in order for the watch to keep accurate time.
Cosmetically, the 36.7 mm gold plated case shows signs of normal wear in the form of small scratches and marks, but retains sharp lines, corners and edges overall. The case also retains the factory vertical brushed finish on the top of the case, and shows no areas of wear through of the plated finish. The case back is also in nice condition, with crisp factory stamping and visible evidence of its original circular graining (please review the photographs for the best representation of this watch's physical condition.) The original metallic blue dial with a gold minute track rehaut, applied gold markers and day/date window at 3 o'clock is in nice condition with light signs of aging, while the original hand set and day/date wheels are excellent. The crystal is generally clean and clear, but does have a few small scratches on its surface, while the original crown is in great condition.
The watch is mounted on a nice NOS tan genuine crocodile grain leather watch band, and will fit a wrist of up to approximately 7 3/4" in size in this configuration.
