Offered for sale is a vintage 1950s Hamilton 'Carlton' 10K Gold Filled 17J Cal. 747 Manual Wind watch, the crown for which is loose, for restoration or parts. This is one of a number of vintage watches that were part of a retired watch technicians inventory of watches and watch parts, acquired a number of years ago, that I have begun listing here on eBay.

Hamilton's "Carlton" was produced for 4 years from 1951 to 1954.

Mechanically, this watch is not currently in running condition - the crown is detached (but will be included with the watch), making it impossible to attempt to wind the movement. The balance in the 17J Cal. 7474 movement is swinging freely, and gently rocking the watch will cause the second hand to advance.  Some level of servicing or repair will be necessary in order to return this watch to good timekeeping condition.

Cosmetically, the 25.6mm diameter (36.7mm lug tip to lug tip) 10K golf filled case shows signs of normal wear in the form of small scratches and bumps, but it otherwise displays sharp lines, edges and corners throughout; there is minimal wear through of the golf filled finish, with the only hints appearing at the very tips of the underside of the lugs. [Please review the photographs accompanying this listing for the most complete description of the watch's physical condition.]  The crown, which appears to be original, is clean with a small mark on the surface. The original silver dial with solid 18K gold applied markers displays significant signs of aging and patina; the original matching hands show some tarnish and developing corrosion. The crystal is generally clear and clean, but does show some light wear around the edges.

The watch is mounted on the same vintage black Speidel Genuine Crocodile watch band on which it was found (it appears to have a lot of life left in it, so I cleaned it with leather cleaner), and will fit a wrist of up to approximately 7 1/2" in size in this configuration.

Lots of good here for the Hamilton collector, either as a project on it's own or as a parts donor in the restoration of another watch.

Please review all of the photographs, as they comprise the most important part of the item description.  If you have any questions about the item, please ask before bidding; there are no returns on this lot (unless it's not as described in some way.)

All international sales will ship via eBay's Global Shipping Program, no exceptions.

We will combine shipping where possible - please request an invoice or send a note once your bidding for the day is complete.
