"The Tragicall Historie of Hamlet Prince of Denmark. Hamlet Second Quarto 1605" by William Shakespeare, published in 1969 in the United Kingdom by Scolar Press, 101pp, no ISBN.
Condition Notes: Good+ condition, neat, clean & tidy paperback copy, well looked-after (looks and feels hardly used). The card covers are a bit discoloured in places - it seems they were originally a sort of caramel colour; some of the discolouration has been caused by the action of the sun fading sections of the cover
About this book: This text has been reproduced (original size) by permission of the Trustees of the British Museum. Shelf-Mark: C.34.k.2. The first quarto of Hamlet was entered in the Stationers' Register on July 26, 1602 to James Roberts who printed the second quarto for Nicholas Ling, co-publisher with John Trundle of the first quarto of 1603. This second quarto is generally held to be the first authorised printing of the text. Seven copies of the second quarto survive, three of which have title-pages dated 1604, the others being (like the British Museum copy here reproduced) dated 1605. In the extant copies of the earlier state signature O2 is misprinted "G2". This final leaf, missing in the British Museum copy, has been reproduced in the following facsimile copy from the Capell copy in Trinity College, Cambridge, by permission of the Master and Fellows
