A vintage 1970s Starnord road bike, brought back from France. It comes in its original metallic lime-gold paint with the Starnord lettering, and has a 58cm (23") steel frame. It's a classic French randonneur build: chrome mudguards front and rear, a rear luggage rack, dynamo lighting, drop bars with extra brake levers, and a Brooks-style sprung saddle.
It rolls on 650B wheels with wide 44mm Michelin gumwall tyres, the classic French touring setup, for a smooth, cushioned ride on London roads.
The components are period French: a Huret rear derailleur, a Solida double chainset with chainguard, down-tube friction shifters and a "Competition" alloy stem. It suits riders around 5'10"–6'1", whether for commuting, weekend rides or a collection. It rides well, and the gears shift smoothly.
⚜️ Condition ⚜️
Everything works. The brakes squeak and would benefit from new pads or a service. There's paint chipping and wear consistent with age, mainly on the top tube and stays, and light surface rust on the seat post. The tyres are gumwall. The photos form part of the description.
