This is a lovely piece of Macassar dressed on my high end European equipment (Panhans jointer and Martin Planer), so no snipe and little if any tear out ( planed with spiral head). The wood measures 2 3/8" square x 12 7/8" See the last paragraph for the complete account of any issues. I do my best to describe any observed items, as I would want anyone to do for something as personal as a piece of wood. The A series pieces have the waxed ends cut off as well as any shallow end checks. They are also coated with amber shellac.
This is a legendary wood! Great wood for plane bodies, carving, furniture, turned boxes, pool cues, knife scales. I've included a photos of some planes I've made as well as turned boxes of other fine exotics. Perfect wood for ornamental lathe work.
This piece has been cut for over 20 years, so is highly stable. This billet has no observable flaws.
