LILIPUT MINIATURE YIDDISH ENGLISH DICTIONARIES SET HOROWITZ JUDAICA BOOK c1920'S

This is a very rare pair of early miniature “Liliput” dictionaries, published for Minkus Bros., Bronx, New York and printed in Germany, circa 1920s. This exceptional pair consists of the two complementary volumes: Liliput Dictionary – English-Yiddish, by Zina Horowitz Liliput Dictionary – Yiddish-English, by Paula Horowitz Together they form the complete two-way English/Yiddish reference set. Each volume contains approximately 12,000 words and phrases and measures only about 2 inches (5 cm) in height, making them true miniature books. The English-Yiddish volume contains 621 pages, while the Yiddish-English volume contains 660 pages. Bibliographic references date these early Minkus Bros. editions to approximately c.1910–1920s, with some sources specifically listing Leipzig circa 1920–1925. original red printed cloth wrappers and display the distinctive “LILIPUT DICTIONARY – 12000 WORDS” design. These miniature dictionaries are highly collectible examples of early 20th-century Yiddish lexicography and Jewish publishing. Individual examples appear only infrequently on the market, and complete matching pairs are considerably more unusual. A matching pair of Paula and Zina Horowitz dictionaries has also been catalogued by specialist Judaica booksellers. Good condition.
