​An authentic antique Art Deco period hair barrette dating from the 1920s, carved from a single piece of thick, natural mother of pearl shell.

​This piece features the sleek geometric rectangular silhouette characteristic of the Art Deco era, curved to follow the contour of the head. The polished face exhibits iridescence with luminous highlights of rose, gold, and seafoam green playing across the natural shell grain. It is mounted on its original 1920s brass-tone wire tension clasp, attached with traditional dark-capped end rivets.
