Description

1981 Washington Quarter – HUGE Struck-Through Debris/Cloth/Grease Error

Very unusual major struck-through error on a 1981 Washington Quarter. The obverse is approximately 90% obscured by the material/debris struck between the coin planchet and die, creating an exceptionally dramatic error.

The material appears consistent with a struck-through debris/cloth/grease type error. The affected area is enormous and covers most of the obverse design.

Importantly, areas of the obverse that were not affected by the struck-through material remain BU/Uncirculated, showing very nice original surfaces.

The reverse is also BU condition and has a strong, full eagle breast. There is a smaller struck-through area on the reverse where part of "QUARTER" is obliterated, along with the final "D" in UNITED.
