Genuine vintage SunTour Alpha 2000 / α-2000 rear derailleur, manufactured in Japan and dating from approximately 1988–1989.

This is the RD-2000 short-cage version designed for SunTour's AccuShift indexed drivetrain system and also capable of operation with friction shifting.

The Alpha range brought SunTour's indexed AccuShift system to more affordable sports and touring bicycles while retaining the company's slant-parallelogram derailleur geometry.

This example retains both jockey wheels, cage, mounting hardware, cable adjuster and adjustment components. The original SunTour graphic is still identifiable, although considerably worn.

Condition
Used vintage condition with substantial cosmetic wear.

The black graphic panel has considerable rubbing, scratching and loss of the original printed finish. The silver metal components show scratches, staining, oxidation and areas of surface corrosion.

Dirt and old grease remain around the pulley wheels, pivots and cage. The derailleur has not been fitted to a bicycle or tested under load, so cleaning, lubrication, inspection and adjustment should be expected before use.

A useful original component for a late-1980s SunTour-equipped road, racing or touring bicycle, a period restoration, or for vintage drivetrain spares.
