Fresh into stock, probably the most incredible Honda CB750 we have ever had, it's the 28th one built, there are only 7 CB750 production motorcycles older than this in existence!! Originally from California, but now UK registered, SDE 189G. So the motorcycle was assembled at Honda's Hamamatsu plant late March or very early April 1969. Frame number CB7501000028 Engine Number CB750E1000132. This was the original engine fitted as the motorcycle left the factory, but not the original one fitted on the line. At the end of the line, a factory worker rode it onto rollers to run it through the gears, clutch operation, lights and brakes etc, but as he's doing this, he's got the throttle wide open! We guess working on the theory if it's going to leak oil or go bang now is the time to do it. So the original engine succumbed to one of those things. The motorcycle would have been pushed to the side to await another engine. Engine CB750E1000132 gets fitted and number 28s original engine gets repaired and put in another bike. This is the second very early CB750 with an engine replacement like this we've had.
The motorcycle is unique as the first 100 were hand built and were really rough in places. So here's a list of early parts most CB750 Sandcasts don't have. A 19ltr fuel tank, short petcock, 11mm mirror stems, grey horn, no pointer or 'off on off' on right hand switch, as well as sandcast cases, it has a sandcast cam tensioner housing, and front brake junction. It has the original thick finned exhaust clamps, and thin walled scollop shaped exhaust stubs, early General Electric 2 headlamp, horizontal breathers on the carbs, early Lotus Root pipes, with no corrosion or repairs, no locating pegs for the later to come finned oil filter housing (the first 200 sandcasts had different cases to the others), un-polished smooth oil filter housing, thin lipped generator cover with no dimples around the Honda logo, no cast in chain adjustment marks on swing arm, just line put in by hand with a chisel, 2 hole airbox, hand made billet master cylinder cap, narrow top yoke, so the clocks are slightly closer together, early 10 hole seat with solid base.
The motorcycle is totally original and untouched. Only the Candy Ruby Red paintwork is not original. The paint had faded out so much the US owner decided to have it it re-painted. Runs and rides like no other CB750 we have ever ridden, so load, so raw and so fast!
Be quick on this this one, another unrestored very early CB750 may never appear!
