Antique 19thC French Carved Plaque, Book Stand with Gargoyles, Motto Fier et Sage

An Antique (circa 1800s) French Plaque. The Plaque was originally part of a book stand as you can see from the back. It is hand carved from wood and has a French Heraldry Motto from the with a Buck Deer "Fier et Sage" which translate to "Proud and Wise," a description of a valiant but thoughtful knight, combining a strong sense of dignity/honor with deep wisdom. The Plaque is carved with nice attention to detail and measures 15 1/2" x 13" x 2 1/4" deep with the shelf. This would be great hanging on a wall to keep your pens, markers. It is in very good overall condition with a nice natural patina in the wood.
