Original 1876 large-format antique color map of Higginsport and Lewis Township, along the Ohio River in the southwestern corner of Brown County.

• Higginsport was a booming tobacco hub when this map was printed, and the map locates more than a half-dozen tobacco warehouses and dealers, along with the boat landing where approximately two million pounds of tobacco were shipped down the Ohio River to New Orleans every year.



• Other details include the Augusta Ferry (still in operaton today), White Oak Creek, Feesburg, Shamrock Distillery, schools, churches, mills, property owners, and wagon roads, with distances along various routes.



• The map was published as Plate 10-11 in Atlas of Brown County, Ohio by Lake, Griffing & Stevenson, 27 South 6th Street, Philadelphia, 1876.



• The image area measures a generous 61 x 37 cm [24 in. x 14½ in.].
