Original mid-19th century fold-out map of the environs of London, drawn and engraved by B.R. Davies.

• The image measures 32.6 x 39.8 cm [12¾ in. x 15¾ in.], and the coverage area extends from Windsor to Gravesend, between Hatfield and Guildford, including the Home Counties of Middlesex, Surrey, Kent, Essex, Berkshire, and Hertfordshire.



• Details include railways, canals, carriage roads, parks, towns, villages, and natural features.



• Among the specific named places and features are the Eastern Counties Railway, Kingston on Thames, Chipping Barnet, Woolwich, Seven Oaks, Croydon, Hyde Park, the Southwestern Railway, Windsor, and the drilling ground at Hounslow Heath. The figures in the towns gives their distance in miles from London.



• The map was published in London circa 1851 by W. James Adams, 59 Fleet Street and is titled in the upper margin: "Adams's Guide Map to the Environs of London—25 Miles Round."



• Condition:  It is in very good, lightly used condition, with faint toning on part of one fold from an old tape reinforcement on the reverse side. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
