The striking Art Deco pochoir (hand-stencil aquarelle) FRONT COVER of the “Collection Lotus” edition of Prosper Mérimée’s Carmen-Colomba (the wrapper lettered CARMEN) – Carmen sweeping across a golden ground in a long rose-strewn fringed shawl, a red bloom at her lips, lettered “PROSPER MÉRIMÉE – CARMEN – Aquarelles de Maggy Monier.” Éditions Nilsson, Paris, c.1928, with 1920s stencil-and-watercolour work by Maggy Monier.
Original antique pochoir plate, not a reproduction. Printed by hand-applied stencil and watercolour (aquarelle) on fine Japanese paper, signed “Maggy Monier” in the stencil.
