We are delighted to offer this beautiful vintage Baltic amber double strand necklace, featuring graduated oval beads in rich cognac, honey and golden amber tones. The necklace has wonderful depth and variation throughout, with swirling internal characteristics that give each bead an individual appearance.

The beads appear to be pressed Baltic amber, a traditional form of amber created using heat and pressure, and graduate in size toward the front of the necklace. The double strand design gives the piece substantial presence while retaining an elegant, classic look.

The necklace is completed with a decorative round amber-set box clasp. The reverse of the clasp is clearly stamped “MADE AUSTRIA”, confirming Austrian manufacture.

The amber has been examined using home testing methods, including a saltwater float test, which produced results consistent with amber. UV examination also shows fluorescence visible in the photographs. Please note that these are non-laboratory tests and no gemmological certificate accompanies the necklace.

Condition

This necklace is presented in good vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with its age and previous use. The amber beads retain a beautiful glossy appearance with natural variation, internal inclusions, swirling and colour differences throughout. Some minor surface wear, small marks and signs of age may be present when viewed closely.

The gold-tone clasp and fittings show expected vintage patina, discolouration and surface wear. The clasp remains functional.
