Posters in Miniature. With an introductory by Edward Penfield. London and New York: John Lane and R.H. Russell, 1896. A collection of images of posters of the period. From the library of Earnest Elmo Calkins (1868-1964) , the pioneering advertising executive who developed many hugely influential techniques in the field. Calkins was also a deaf person. See his extensive Wikipedia entry. This book includes the personal bookplate of Calkins mounted on the front pastedown as well as the bookplate of his advertising firm, Calkins and Holden. Book has some wear, with some soiling to boards and is marked “Art Dept” (of the Calkins and Holden firm) on back. Some magazine clippings laid in. A fascinating piece of advertising history.
