DESCRIPTION

Beautiful antique double-sided handheld vanity mirror dating approximately to the 1920s, with styling that bridges the Art Nouveau and early Art Deco eras.

This substantial full-size hand mirror features mirror glass on BOTH sides, surrounded by a narrow metal frame. The long tapered handle has raised vertical fluting/reeded detailing, decorative flowing foliate scrollwork near the mirror, and a graceful palmette/leaf-style terminal at the end.

No maker's mark has been found. Based on the visible wear to the finish and exposed yellow/brass-toned metal along the mirror frame, this appears to be silver plate over a copper-alloy/base metal, possibly brass. A small area of green verdigris is also present on the frame. It is not being represented as sterling silver.
